Appetite: Simple, yet satisfying

My other half is late! He said he’s gonna join me for dinner, but he’d too engrossed with bingo at Marymart. So I went and had dinner alone. Gutom na kasi ako eh! I felt like I could eat a family sized serving. I found this nifty new resto along General Luna called Appetite. It’s right across JD Roadhouse. It’s just two months old, but I think it’s going to last a long time, longer than its previous inceptions, particularly Chef Cho. Their location is somewhat cursed when it comes to establishing a restaurant.
I ordered one appetizer, a fried rice special, crepes for dessert, a strawberry shake and a 12oz glass of Pepsi. Busog na busog! I was surprised by the quality of food they served. The appetizer can be eaten as viand. It is called Fish Me Warmel. The deep-fried fish fillets were light and crispy. They have great texture: the breading is thin and does not feel greasy in my mouth.

I also like the fried rice I ordered. It has mixed veggies in it, and they were all freshly served. When my hubby finally arrived, it was two hours before they close, which is at 10 pm. But, the time between ordering and serving is so short that two hours is long enough for a quick dinner. He ordered sinigang, but on the menu it was called chicken tamarind soup. I asked him if I could maybe try it and I thought the taste was perfect! It wasn’t too sour, too bland, or too salty. The spiciness bites a little, which is really excellent! All in all, my husband and I thought the place was perfect. The food was great, the ambience cozy, and the prices are very affordable. They serve money-saving meals starting from 55 pesos from 11 am to 2 pm. The meals already have one serving of rice, a viand, and a free ice tea. The rest of the menu is good for 2 to 4 people depending on the dish. The soups and viands are good for 4 people. The appetizers, rice, desserts, and other selections are good for two people. For beverages, diners have a choice between softdrinks, iced tea, juice and fruit shakes.
