Bacolod Bloggers Event at Hotel PAGCOR

Excited doesn’t begin to describe what I felt all throughout last week. I was buzzing with anticipation for the Bloggers Event in Bacolod City. I couldn’t wait for Saturday to come so I could meet other bloggers in the region and see Janette Toral (my blogging idol) in person. That last prospect by itself is the raison d’etre of my weekend trip to the City of Smiles.

In fact I already bought a copy of Blogging From Home to have it autographed by Miss Janette. (Wink! Wink!) Not only that I have also researched the contact info for any hotel in Bacolod City that can be easily found on Google Maps. That way I won’t get lost when I have to find the hotel I’ve chosen. I only chose the ones located near the plaza instead of nearer Goldenfields where the event was held. I felt more at home being near shops and restaurants.

When the most anticpated day came I was almost ready with my overnight bag, my book and my pocket money. Almost complete. Only one element missing: my lovey dovey. I also thought of the weekend as a great opportunity for the two of us to bond. It is also a gift for me from me since my birthday’s in July 6 on Monday. Aside from that I wanted Ed to be with me because I wanted him to enjoy the time sightseeing in Bacolod because he has fewer opportunities to travel than I.

The journey to Bacolod started alright, no problems with the jeepney ride, or buying the tickets. We got the earliest ferry ride with Weesam Express leaving in less than an hour. But when we were in the middle of the ride, one engine of Weesam had died down and won’t start again. Thank God we didn’t stop completely in the middle of the sea. Getting to Bacolod is paramount so the ferry’s officers decided to continue with the trip with only one engine running. It took us two hours to reach the port but at least we arrived safely in Bacolod.

Needless to say I was late for the SEO Workshop with Miss Janette. We arrived at 2 pm which was the time that the workshop was supposed to start. Me and my mate had to check in at King’s Hotel which was near Netopia at Lopue’s San Sebastian. However, when I finally got there, I saw all of the seats were already taken, so I decided not to join in anymore. I just hope another chance would come in the future.

So Ed and I decided to just spend the afternoon going around the city and resting in our room at King’s.

By 6 pm I was yet again preparing for the networking event. I took the cab to Goldenfields and got off in front of Hotel Pagcor just before six, which made me number two in the list of arriving guests. Pinaymommyonline.com blogger, Ruby Ricafrente, was there first to assist the guests.

All through the evening I had a great time meeting the other bloggers both from Iloilo City and Bacolod City. I felt lucky winning prizes such a loot bag from PAGCOR, t-shirt and pins from Yahoo, and so much more!

I hope I can attend more events like this. In fact, there is a bloggers and forumers event in SM City this coming July 31. Brian from the Operations Department of SM City has invited me and my fellow ICOM members to the event. It will be some sort of a meet-up of local bloggers and members of forums in Iloilo. There will be freebies, games and prizes.

@Pinay Mommy It was a pleasure to meet you, Miss Ruby. :-) Thank you for a warm welcome!

@Janette Toral Thank you so much for inviting me, Miss Janette! :-) It was a rare opportunity to hobnob with my fellow bloggers.

@poshpost Unfortunately, we were not formally introduced. Si Mommy Ruby lang ang nakilala ko’ng Bacolod Blogger. But I got to know some newbies there who were very interested in having a blog of their own.

@Amy Merong mga pics pero hindi sa akin. Just check Facebook. Andami dun. Here’s a photo of Iloilo Bloggers who attended the event: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=30205464&op=1&o=global&view=global&subj=516320070&id=1353007196#/photo.php?pid=30205463&op=1&o=global&view=global&subj=516320070&id=1353007196
